Texas Grandmothers Knit Tiny Hats for Newborns and Spread Warmth Worldwide

Seniors of Knit Wits from Edgemere

Boomer Takeaways

A group of Texas grandmothers, known as The Knit Wits, are making a big difference with their small creations. These women, who live at the Edgemere senior living community near Dallas, spend their time knitting tiny hats for newborns in hospital ICU wards. They’ve been spreading warmth and love since 2001.

Together, the group creates about 20 baby hats every two weeks. Peg Brown, one of the members, designs special patterns that match the current season. The rest of the group then brings her designs to life with their knitting skills.

But their efforts don’t stop there. These talented women also knit scarves, sweaters, and cuddly dolls for children in orphanages overseas. On top of that, they’ve even made helmet liners for troops stationed abroad. Their dedication shows how small acts of kindness can make a big impact.
