There’s no age limit on dreams—just ask Bobbi Oxford.
Racing Dreams Don’t Expire—They Just Wait Their Turn
Some childhood memories stay with us forever. For Bobbi Oxford, the most vivid were soaked in motor oil and adrenaline—watching her brother tear down the drag strip as crowds cheered.
Back in those days, women were spectators, not drivers. Her one shot at racing—a Powder Puff Derby just for women—was canceled due to rain. She never got another opportunity. That is, until now.
Now 83 years old, Bobbi lives quietly in Littleton, Colorado. She spends her time quilting, painting, and leading a creative life, but the fire inside never faded.
Older Adults Can Still Dream Big — And Live Even Bigger
Bobbi’s lifelong wish was granted thanks to the nonprofit Wish of a Lifetime. The AARP-backed organization helps older adults check off meaningful items on their bucket list, proving that aging doesn’t mean giving up on joy, excitement, or growth.
Under the clear Colorado sky, Bobbi suited up in a custom racing outfit and took the wheel of a retired race car at Pikes Peak International Raceway. With an experienced driver in the passenger seat, she hit the one-mile oval track, lapping repeatedly and grinning from ear to ear.
Bobbi isn’t just a woman who drove a race car. She symbolizes what it means to keep believing, dreaming, and driving—no matter your age.
