Most people might celebrate their 105th birthday with tea and cake—but not Hilda Jackson. This energetic centenarian had something else in mind: a full-on rave party.
A Birthday Bash Like No Other
When Hilda told her caregivers she wanted to celebrate with music and dancing, the team at Holbrook Hall Care Home in Derbyshire, England, made it happen. They swapped the usual balloons for UV lights, glowsticks, and thumping beats from a live DJ.
Even her walker took the night off as Hilda joined friends and fellow residents on the dance floor. With a gin and tonic in hand, she grooved to classic disco hits, proving age is just a number.
A Party Fit for a Queen—And a Rapper
The celebration featured over 70 guests, including Hilda’s family, friends, and even Nottingham rapper Bru-C, who performed a custom rap just for her.
Adding to the festivities:
- A pop-up bar (with both cocktails and soft drinks)
- Hand-delivered rave supplies
- Over 250 birthday cards, including one from King Charles
Hilda’s Secret to a Life Well Lived
“I love a good party, so I had to go all out,” Hilda shared. “I’ve enjoyed every minute of my life, and I plan to keep doing just that.”
Reflecting on her milestone, she added, “I never imagined I’d make it to 105—but here I am, and I’m truly thankful.”
